Cancer Care Near You

Essentia Health offers comprehensive cancer care services at four Cancer Centers located in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota. Many of our oncologists also travel to Essentia community clinics to provide cancer care.

In some cases, our cancer doctors can consult with you at your local clinic via Televideo exams.  Our goal is to provide you with care close to home so you can spend less time driving to and from appointments and more time focusing on getting better.

Team-Based Care

Your cancer care team will answer your questions and partner with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that promotes healing while managing pain and symptoms. Our goal is to provide you with the guidance, support, and treatment you need throughout your cancer journey.

Your team will be led by your oncologist and will include your primary care provider. Other members of your care team may include:

  • Chaplains – Guide you through spiritual and emotional challenges
  • Dietitians – Recommend healthy food choices and improve your appetite
  • Genetic counselors – Discuss your inherited cancer risk and make recommendations about genetic testing
  • Hematologists – Treat blood cancers such as leukemia and lymphoma
  • Oncology-certified nurses – Coordinate and provide care
  • Oncologists – Oversee your treatment
  • Pathologists – Examine tissue samples for cancer cells
  • Pharmacists – Provide medication
  • Psychologists or psychiatrists – Help lessen the emotional toll of cancer
  • Radiologists – Use imaging tests to diagnose cancer
  • Radiation oncologists – Prescribe the number and type of radiation treatments you’ll receive
  • Radiation therapists – Give radiation treatments and help reduce side effects

Patient Navigators

Depending on your location and diagnosis, your cancer care team may include a patient navigator who will guide you through your cancer journey from diagnosis to recovery by:

  • Explaining your options for care
  • Coordinating appointments
  • Helping you manage the side effects of treatment
  • Providing emotional support and guidance
  • Developing survivorship care plans
  • Connecting you with financial, legal, and community support services
