Goals of a Nurse Navigator
As a member of the cancer care team, the main goal of a nurse navigator is to identify and remove barriers to patient treatment. During the course of treatment, the nurse navigator will:
Guide
Guide the patient through the cancer care continuum from diagnosis to survivorship
Communicate
Facilitate communication between the cancer care team members
Centralize
Act as the central point of contact for the patient

Identify and remove barriers to timely and appropriate cancer treatment

Provide and reinforce patient education regarding, but not limited to: cancer types, treatment options, and testing
